Reporting to the Branch Manager,Regina, the successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day activities involved in underwriting property and casualty business.

We have an immediate opening for a Loss Prevention Inspector for the territory in Manitoba, with occasional travel to other Western Canadian provinces and less frequently, travel to Eastern Canada. This position requires a motivated, resourceful, independent self-starter who is flexible regarding working hours and available to travel extensively within the assigned area, including nights away from home. A valid driver’s license and good driving record is essential.
Responsibilities include planning, organizing and carrying out inspections to evaluate physical conditions, safety and risk management practices on the property insured by Grain Insurance & Guarantee throughout the territory and preparing written reports for head office. Typically our inspectors will tour grain elevators, feed mills, seed cleaning plants, and less frequently, churches, and retail stores.
The successful candidate will have exceptional interpersonal, organizational and communications skills, both oral and written; a strong sense of tact and discretion; outstanding customer service skills, including the ability to interact effectively and work productively with a wide range of people, and be able to develop and maintain a strong rapport with clients. Some mechanical and/or electrical knowledge would be beneficial. The candidate must be able to work in a physically demanding environment, for example climbing ladders that are up to 150 feet high in grain elevators and working in confined spaces, and must have no medical problems which would preclude working in dusty conditions. The incumbent will possess a high school diploma or equivalent experience and be computer literate in Excel and Microsoft Word.
Our ideal candidate will have experience with grain handling facilities and grain terminals.
